Cezannesque

In Mont Sainte-Victoire Seen from Les Lauves, Cezanne

blocked what he saw of the world each day,

attempting to configure in the lay of some terrain

the blurred clarity of                                       greens, browns, oranges,

pigments of earth, pigments of sky, white and dim purple,

blues and greens and mauves,                         in Mont Sainte-Victoire

Seen from Les Lauves,            Cezanne blocked out what he saw

of the world, attempting to configure            in the lay of the terrain

a sensuous abstraction,            like someone emerging

out from the darkness, in blurred clarity,

greens, browns, oranges,

pigments of houses, of roofs,                          windows, clouds, mountains,

in Mont Sainte-Victoire Seen from Les Lauves Cezanne emerged

from out the darkness, beginning with land climbing upwards,

land falling downwards,

Cezanne with melancholy wonder painted a mountain

which appears to be shaking like a tremored hand,

shaking in wonder, trauma,                             grandeur, loneliness,

blocking the earth in sculptural fragments,                 planes of orange,

dense black brushstrokes of trees,

blues and greens and mauves,

sensuous abstractions, emerging out from the darkness

in blurred clarity,

windows, clouds,

in Mont Sainte-Victoire Seen from Les Lauves

Cezanne began painting with the blurred clarity of mountains,

blues, pigments of earth, melancholy wonder, Cezanne began painting a mountain,

emerging from the darkness,                           sensuous abstraction,

houses, windows Cezanne painted a mountain

painted a mountain

Cezanne with noble isolated grandeur

painted a mountain
